LONDON, August 25- Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is expecting big things from both Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo this season and insists he doesn’t need another striker.
There has been talk that the Gunners may be lacking in firepower this season, and Alexis Sanchez’s performance up front in the 2-2 draw with Everton will have done nothing to dispel such notions.
Olivier Giroud came on at half-time in place of the Chilean and scored the late equaliser for his side and Wenger believes his compatriot is capable of scoring 25 goals this season.
“He scored 16 [in the Premier League last year] and he’s very convincing,” Wenger told Arsenal’s official website.
“You never have to set any limitations for any player. For me, he’s improving every year and don’t rule it out that he scores 25.”
Wenger has also backed Giroud and Sanogo to have good seasons, while also pointing to Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell as options up front, although the latter two’s future at the club remain uncertain.
“We [also] have [Yaya] Sanogo who will be an important asset, we have Giroud, we have Lukas Podolski, we have Joel Campbell who can play centre forward.
“We have Alexis [Sanchez] and [Theo] Walcott coming back. Let’s not forget that.”
