WANYAMA-HULLNAIROBI, November 25- Harambee Stars captain and Southampton star, Victor Wanyama’s house was broken into Tuesday night when he was on Saint’s duty and robbed clean according to reports from England.

During the breaking, property worth millions of shillings including his prized Range Rover Sport worth an estimated Sh8m, electronics, designer clothing and jewellery was carted away by the burglars who took advantage of his absence for their English Premier League (EPL) clash away to Aston Villa that ended in a 1-1 draw.

“He has confirmed the incident but at this time, he’s too distraught to comment on it,” a close friend confided to Capital Sport when the news broke on online media.

Having arrived to the team hotel a day before the Villa Park game, Wanyama travelled to Villa Park where a late Nathaniel Clyne goal salvaged a point late on in the game before returning home to find the shocking robbery.

Wanyama who is enjoying an extended run in Ronald Koeman’s side with three goals so far this season after completing his 10 million pound move from Celtic is not the only high earning EPL star to have fallen victim to burglars when on domestic or European duty.

Everton defender Phil Jaglieka (2009), Arsenal’s Theo Walcott (2011), Liverpool skipper Stephen Gerrard, former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole (2011) and Frank Lampard (2005) all former or serving England internationals have fallen victim to a gang said to target EPL players.

Former Arsenal players Nwankwo Kanu and Marc Overmars had homes in North London targeted as well as record scorer, Thierry Henry, who’s cleaner was tied up by thieves during a raid at his home in Hampstead when he played for the club have also been robbed.
