NAIROBI, Kenya, November 18 – After experiencing a bumpy Kenyan Premier League (KPL) ride season, KCB has dropped six players in an effort to rebuild the team for next year.
Midfielder Paul Wainaina, keeper Kaleb Wafula, defenders Sisthens Idah, Dennis Omondi, Meshack Abel and offensive midfielder Ochieng’ Maunda have been given their marching orders to pave way for new signings.
The Bankers who escaped relegation this season by a thread are scouting for new players during the January transfer window and will be conducting trials from November 24 to 28 at their Nairobi’s Ruaraka backyard.
“We are out there seeking to recruit impressive talent to join us as we rebuild an outfit that can challenge for major honours. We are in talks with top players in Uganda and in the country as well. However, the management is not allowed to disclose the names of the players it is hoping to recruit because most of them are on contracts with their clubs.
“We are preparing to come into the 2015 season bigger and better with players who have the skill to compete at national and international arena. The trials will be carried out in two sets that will bring together players from the lower leagues and KPL.
“The players must show high pedigree to tackle the challenges of a premier league fixture,” KCB head coach Rishadi Shedu declared.
The former under-20 national team head coach will be seeking to revive the team’s 2013 performance where they finished fourth and scooped seven awards including the season’s best player Jacob Keli.
